Take the coastal route along the Côte d'Azur
Word to the wise: Save yourself time and hassle by purchasing your train tickets upon arrival at the airport. Just head to the bus ticket booth in Terminal 1.
Fast, efficient and most importantly - cheap, the regional trains operated by SNCF offer the most scenic and speedy method of getting around the Côte d'Azur. Departing from Nice Ville station, trains in either direction hug the azur coastline all the way from the busy beaches of Mandelieu to the south and the millionaires playground of Monaco to the north through to the Italian gateway town of Ventimiglia.
Most trains operating on the route are split-level so if you want an uninterrupted view of the Mediterranean, take a seat upstairs. If you're planning on doing a bit of hop-on, hop-off travel, it makes sense to opt for one of the promotional or family tickets on offer. For no more than EUR 12 per person or EUR 35 per family, you'll get the chance to take in the historic sights and beautiful beaches of the region at your own pace.
