Casa Lucio

A restaurant for Spanish and Hollywood royalty

Popular plate: Though modest-sounding, the huevos estrellados ('broken eggs' with potatoes) is elevated to an art form here.

Talk of the town: King Juan Carlos, Queen Sofía, Bill Clinton and Penélope Cruz have all dined here.

Located just off Plaza Mayor, the venerable Casa Lucio has played host to numerous luminaries over the years - it's a popular haunt for those in film and politics. Even the monarchy have been known to dine here.

Hams hang from wooden beams and the menu is classic Castilian. Choose from hearty dishes such as Jabugo ham with broad beans, shrimp in garlic sauce, hake with green sauce, roasted lamb and mouth-watering churrasco de la casa, which is a thick steak served sizzling hot on a heated platter. Make sure to round off with the scrumptious tarte de la casa.
