Breathing new life into vintage furniture and accessories
Noteworthy for: Miejsce's kitsch but lovely vintage furniture and home wares prove that design in communist Poland wasn't necessarily grey or dull.
This whimsical boutique was founded in 2005 by interior designers Bartek Kieżun and Przemek Krupski, who carefully restore, repaint and reupholster vintage furniture to create beautiful one-offs. Their influences are certainly eclectic - Pop Art meets neo-baroque, sleek minimalism next to religious kitsch – but the common threads are aesthetic appeal, comfort and a sense of humour.
While the majority of the pieces are of Polish origin, you're likely to recognise a few international names too. Not that the original brands are important – the only label that counts here is "Przywrócone przez Miejsce" (restored by Miejsce).
