Talk of the town: When American celebrity Anthony Bourdain came to Dubai to film his show 'No Reservations', he made sure to stop at Bu Qtair for the fried fish.
It doesn’t get much more no-frills than Bu Qtair, a portakabin on Jumeirah Beach that dishes out fried fish, and little else. Yet the fresh seafood and shore-side location have turned this “hidden secret” into a culinary hotspot.
The surge in attention has, alas, had its affect on the price – a meal that once cost AED 10 is more likely to cost AED 100. Still, the place hasn’t lost its charm, and the quality remains top notch. What’s being served depends on the catch of the day, though past examples include cumin-spiced snapper and Keralan fish curry.
