A little house serving big-time Tex-Mex awesomeness

Popular plate: For a light, refreshing starter, try the salad made with mango and jicama, a crisp, slightly sweet root vegetable.

Word to the wise: The place fills up quickly on weekend mornings, so you may want to call ahead and get breakfast to go.

Connie Rodriguez was a successful caterer for a decade before her clients persuaded her to open this homestyle restaurant. It's a low-key operation, seating only about 10 people, but the always-fresh food has drawn a loyal following from the nearby Allandale neighborhood since 2007.

In addition to stellar breakfast burritos and migas, the menu has a few delectable surprises, such as potato enchiladas with smoky chipotle sauce. Spicy red sauce and puffy flour tortillas transport every dish to a higher plane.
